A Family of Faith – New Religious Ed Program

I have a happy announcement this year in Grades 1 – 8 about the Religious Educations program. We will be using a new series called “A Family of Faith” catechesis program by Sophie Institute Press. With the permission of Bishop Pates, instead of holding traditional Sunday Morning classes as in the past, we will have one class a month on a Wednesday evening for parents or guardians where a topic will be presented and discussed. For the following two weeks each family will reflect and talk about the topic as a family. The new program provides helpful hints and cool ways for parents to share their faith with their children. Then on one Sunday morning per month we will come together for an activity which relates to the monthly topic. This program is designed to “make parents the first teachers of their child in the ways of faith.” On Sunday, September 10th, we will have an orientation meeting for the twenty -four elementary families and, on Wednesday September 13th, we will have the first of nine Adult sessions for “A Family of Faith” catechesis program. Members of the Religious Education advisory council will be visiting with parents about the new program in the coming days. Please welcome them as they bring you the informational packets.

Our 2nd Graders preparing for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will have the traditional Sunday morning classes from 9:15 to 10:15 AM. The High School program begins this Wednesday September 6th at 7:00 p.m. with 9th and 10th graders preparing for Confirmation and 11th and 12 grades studying the “Theology of the Body for Teens.”

Blessings… Father Dooley

QUESTIONS FOR THOUGHT: What do I remember from RE or CCD or Catholic School? Did I see the faith lived out in our family home? Can I commit to attend two session a month to in order to share my faith with my child?
